Written by the author of ‘Lake Ngami’, Charles J Andersson, five years after his first book, this narrative covers his journey from the mines on the borders of the then Great Namaqua and Damara Land, to the Okavango River. His intention had been to journey into the interior with his friend Frederick Green but on arriving in the Cape following his return from London, he found that he had missed Green. After waiting a couple of months he accepted a post as manager of the aforementioned mines but as he was setting off met up with Green and they travelled together to Walwich Bay. Green subsequently departed to his own epic adventures which are briefly covered here. After finishing his contract at the mines, Andersson set off on what was something of a shoestring expedition using equipment purchased or borrowed locally
