A rare description of Rumania’s short and ill-advised entry to the Great War on the Allied side in 1916. After advancing into the coveted territory of Transylvania, the Rumanians were forced into retreat on all fronts, and the removal of Russia from the war in 1917 left them surrounded and compelled to surrender.
