AMERICANS AND GERMANS IN BASTOGNE First-Hand Accounts from the Commanders

Any military enthusiast who has watched ‘Band of Brothers’ or visited the museum in Bastogne will be familiar with the story of the battle and there are many books available to tell it. This one is different in that it is told solely by the commanders of both sides during those desperate ten days when the outcome hung in the balance and the casualties mounted appallingly. Very soon after the battle interviews with German officers were conducted by the US Army and the information recorded was filed away in the American archives. Recently released, their words, reports and actions reveal the day to day decisions of both American and German commanders.
