This volume presents a systematic record of war damage sustained by H.M. Ships during the Second World War. Incidents are organised by ship type—Battleships, Cruisers, Destroyers, and so forth—with entries arranged chronologically within each section. The year is displayed at the head of each page for reference. Each incident follows a standard format: the ship’s name and the nature of the attack; the date and the duration out of action; a concise description of the event; an assessment of fighting efficiency post-attack; and final remarks, including lessons learned.
